To compete in the AQHA-approved competitions for riders with disabilities, three forms must be completed. All three forms (AQHA membership, special diagnosis and special adaptive equipment) have been combined into one package for your convenience. AQHA and AQHYA members organize a type of competition that gives people with certain physical and cognitive impairments the chance to show an American Quarter Horse. This program provides an environment where everyone can experience the rewards of hard work, determination, and perseverance.
It allows participants to compete in eight classes and accumulate points throughout the year to win prizes. The competition for riders with disabilities is the result of years of letters, calls, meetings, and working groups to create classes, rules, and guidelines that meet the needs of competitors. Representatives from PATH, Special Olympics, and therapeutic riding centers as well as several individuals provided information and guidance. This competition is similar to any other AQHA event where exhibitors can win prizes and recognition while enjoying their American Quarter Horse. The National Snaffle Bit Association's mission is to expand the show horse community through various equine programs and events that benefit horses, breeders, owners, and exhibitors.
The Scottsdale Bobcats are the Special Olympics Arizona (SOAZ) team that represents Adaptation Services for the city of Scottsdale. To participate in EWD events, you must fill out a special diagnostic form and a 26% independent driving aptitude form on special adaptive equipment. Adaptation Services staff can assist, accommodate, and facilitate the participation of participants with disabilities in Scottsdale Parks' major recreation, human services, leisure education, and community services programs &.
